Danielle van Wyk
Registered Nurse & Healthcare Provider BSL Instructor
I’m Dani — nurse, storyteller, and accidental entrepreneur. Nursing was instinct; running a business was… a plot twist. But somewhere between long days, wild ideas, and a stubborn kind of hope, Odonata took flight.
This journey has never been about profit margins or polished plans — it’s about people. About staying calm when things fall apart, thinking clearly when it matters most, and finding courage in the tender, uncertain spaces of life. To me, first aid is more than splints and CPR — it’s calm in chaos, focus and brave action in the face of fear, and the quiet heroism that lives in all of us. Much love, Dani.

our approach
The way we help people learn.
At Odonata, we keep things real. No endless slides or stiff theory — just hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves kind of learning that feels a bit like real life (minus the panic). You’ll practise what to do, not just talk about it, so when things go sideways, your brain and hands already know what to do. We teach with calm, curiosity, and a healthy dose of humour — because people remember what they connect with. Every course is shaped around your world: whether that’s a classroom, factory floor, farm, or kitchen table. The goal? To help you feel calm, capable, and confident enough to act when it matters most — and to see that being prepared isn’t scary at all. It’s steady, it’s practical, and it’s something anyone can do.

A few months after completing the course, my son Riley began choking on a piece of meat. Thanks to the skills I learned from Dani, I stayed calm and was able to act quickly and effectively.
